Did you know Type 1 diabetes results from an autoimmune reaction and usually appears in adolescents and young adults. Type 2 diabetes develops over the course of many years. Risk factors include excess weight and a lack of exercise.
Both types of diabetes can lead to chronically high blood sugar levels. That increases the risk of diabetes complications.
What is the Talki Foundation
As a 501(c)(3) registered Georgia organization, we raise funds to purchase federally funded insulin for low-income diabetic patients in the state of Georgia. We also spread diabetes awareness and education. We also have a passion and support diabetic alert dogs and their handlers.
We seek to empower people through valuable and actionable information to help fight this disease.
Through faith, hope, and love we can move mountains.
Non-profit Organization Supplying Insulin in Georgia
Did you know about 1 in 7 Americans have diabetes? It means about 14% of Americans suffer from diabetes, and a significant percentage need insulin. Every year, the country spends about $245 billion on diabetes.
Approximately 1 Million people (12.4%) in Georgia have a diagnosis of diabetes with an additional 230,000 people with diabetes but are unaware. An additional 234,000 people in Georgia have diabetes but don't know it, greatly increasing their health risk.
It's critical to be aware and get your blood glucose tested. And gain knowledge.
